I know what Google and Mapquest says...but those are computer generated directions. Taking the most direct, quickest route, how long will the drive take?How long does it take to drive from Hartford, CT to Providence, RI?
My recollection is that it's about 1.5 hours, could be as much as 2 depending on route, traffic, and how fast you drive. You can loop down 9 to 95 in a big "U" to stay open highway, or go cross-country (less miles) on something approaching a straight line using state highways/roads (384/44). The cross-country way will likely take longer but has the least chance of traffic and is somewhat scenic for at least part of it.
(I see maps.google.com shows the route as Rte 2 to Rte 6, and taking 1:41 hrs.)
