Why did a Judge do this? What's the Scientific explanation?

A young male teen driving his mom's compact Suzuki Fronte motorcar got a traffic ticket for allegedly doing 110mph in 50mph zone. The teen claimed to have been doing much less than the limit.

The case was thown out within 5 minutes once the judge heard both the police officers account and the driver's.

1. For what obvious reason would the judge throw the case out?

2. Scientifically speaking, if radar is so 'accurate' how could this error occur in the first place?

This ticket was issued along Mandela highway in Kingston, Jamaica. A 4 to 6 lane dual carriage way leading into the capital city (Lookup on Google maps). There is a 15 to 30 foot median with heavy foliage separating the two directions of traffic flow.

Please do some research and provide some references for your answers. Why did a Judge do this? What's the Scientific explanation?
A radar unit is accurate to plus or minus 1 mile per hour, so accuracy is not an issue. The issue is with training. Radar units are subject to several anomalies, apparently the officer did not recognize there was one present at the time of the clock.

Radar units operate by emitting a radio wave of a known frequency. The wave continues unless it is reflected, refracted, or absorbed. The dense foliage would absorb a great deal of energy.

If the radar wave strikes a solid stationary object, it is reflected back at the same frequency. If the object is moving, the frequency changes in relation to the speed. The faster the speed, the more change to the frequency. This is calculated by the counting unit, and a speed reading is displayed.

The radar unit is only capable of showing one reading. This would be the strongest signal. The Suzuki would be a small target. If there is a larger vehicle further back, it could reflect more signal.

There is also an anomalie known as "shadowing", where the unit picks up two vehicles, and either combines or subtracts the speed.
Do your own homework. Why did a Judge do this? What's the Scientific explanation?
It seems to me that the judge heard something in the officer's testimony that went against procedure and thus invalidated the arrest. Why did a Judge do this? What's the Scientific explanation?
The first thing I thought of was that the officers caught the speed in kph but noted it as mph, however 110 kph in a 50 mph zone would still be speeding.

I don't know; what's the answer?
1) The vehicle isn't capable of that speed.

2) The policeman's location would have blocked a clear view of the vehicle through the foliage. Diffraction of light through moving leaves gives the illusion of faster speed (and no, there isn't room here to explain why).

Anyway, you should be doing your own work; or at least have the courtesy to include the witness statements we're supposed to be evaluating.
You don't have enough information to give an accurate answer here.

Was the officer using moving or stationary radar?

Was he facing the same direction as the suspect or the opposite?

Was the officer able to make a visual estimate of the speed in addition to the radar reading?

There are many possible explanations, but more information is needed.
1. The Honorable Judge threw the case out because... Obviously a Suzuki could never do 110 m.p.h. in it's owners wildest dreams.

2. You meant to type " Scientifically speaking, if radar is so "accurate" then how could this "expletive?!?!" have occurred in the first place?

3. Radar is not accurate it relies on sound waves which are sporatic at best... Laser is far more accurate. But rather he got shot with Radar or Laser he had the right to look at the gun and see for himself
Judges do as they please
It sounds like homework and if we answer it then YOU are not doing your own work. Research it yourself (the real way) and write your own paper.

Or did you just not like the answers you got the first time?

    Hello!

I'm going to be making a trip from the New Brunswick Station in New Jersey (on Albany and George St in New Brunswick, New Jersey) to the Doubletree Hotel (address is 200 Atrium Dr, Somerset, NJ 08873). According to Google Maps, the distance for this trip is six miles in one direction, like thirteen minutes of driving but that all depends on traffic.

I've been abroad for a while and don't know how much cabs cost. How much would this trip cost in one direction? Please be as exact as possible as this trip shall have to be made quite a few times. Thanks!Cab Fare in Somerset, New Jersey

    San Bruno gas main explosion?

I never much thought of it before. Now I'm concerned. I know one place where there is a gas main..... here on google maps: http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8%26amp;ll=37.32鈥?/a>

    http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8%26amp;ll=37.32鈥?/a>

If you look at the street view, that sign there warns of a gas line....a couple of times sitting at that light I've discussed it with a friend....that it would take out a large chunk of that area if something ever happened to cause an explosion. But it is several miles from home and I'm only at that site a few minutes at a time a few times a month. But now it occurs to me....the pipeline goes somewhere... does it run along Lawrence Expressway? Are we driving along a pipeline that (like San Bruno) could conceivably explode at any given moment? We use a lot of gas in this area, where do the pipes run? Is there a map of them somewhere? Could my house be sitting atop a main pipe like that too? How can you tell? The sign in the street view of the map is the only one I have ever seen, but I know the pipe must run for miles and miles in two or more directions.San Bruno gas main explosion?
it's in the news yesterday and today.

PG%26amp;E is being required to inspect all the pipes.

note that there are pipes like that all over the country.

and this is the first one that has exploded like this, at least the first in many years.

    relax.
The whole idea of gas lines terrifies me. I have always tried to never live anywhere that gas was piped into homes through major gas lines. It would scare me to think my house might be close to a gas main. And today they run everywhere, and many of them are old and probably need maintenance. If I were you I would start asking questions of the politicians in your area, local, state, and federal.San Bruno gas main explosion?
The reason the pipeline explosion happened in San Bruno is because the City of San Bruno permitted construction of residential homes in a designated earthquake zone in violation of State Law. The State Law was instituted soon after the Loma Prieta earthquake but due to underfunding and lack of enforcement of the law subdivision plans were approved and building permits were issued to building contractors to construct homes in a designated earthquake zone. The Department of Public Works for the City of San Bruno knows there is a four foot wide sink hole on the west side of Oakmont Drive in San Bruno that opens up periodically due to earthquakes and the City of San Bruno keeps filling the hole every time the hole opens. The shifting of the earth caused the gas transmission pipeline to separate and when it separated a small amount of gas escaped and made its way to the surface where any source of ignition would cause the gas to burst into flames and travel all the way back to the pipeline and explode as it did. The cause of the explosion of the gas pipeline isn't with PG%26amp;E as the pipeline was there prior to homes being constructed in the earthquake zone and the explosion was caused by the natural occurrence of the many earthquakes that take place all the time along the fault line. The responsibility of the loss to those whose lives were lost, injuries and loss of property is that of the City of San Bruno for not abiding by State Law regarding construction of residential homes within a designated earthquake zone. This fact may be overlooked by those who are doing the investigating of the cause because the public outcry is against PG%26amp;E and the sentiment is against PG%26amp;E and people want someone to blame and PG%26amp;E is the one people are looking at because it is their pipeline. Heaven forbid were people to show blame on the City of San Bruno at this time when everyone is sympathizing with those affected by the explosion and with the City of San Bruno's fire fighters along with fire fighters from all over the stated did all they could to mitigate the effects of the explosion. Perhaps later when people become more rational the truth will come out as I have described, but until then PG%26amp;E will do all they can to help those affected. PG%26amp;E is a responsible and community minded company and they will help even when the cause of a gas main explosion isn't theirs as they did in the Marina District in San Francisco after the Loma Prieta earthquake, even though the homes in the Marina district weren't in a designated earthquake zone, and they did so at their own expense. I ask everyone to hold back on judgment of PG%26amp;E and wait for the facts to come out as portions of the pipeline have been sent to Washington, DC for inspection and determination as to what may have been the cause. The final analysis will be held in the courts as there will be many lawsuits and all of them will name PG%26amp;E along with the City of San Bruno and the State of California. It is quite possible the courts will decide the cost sharing of all three and who will pay the most is up in the air as the court will determine the cost sharing percentage and/or amount each will pay. We will learn what happened so take the time to pray for those whose lives were shattered and give them your help and support as they try to put their lives back together.San Bruno gas main explosion?
y should we hold back on saying how we feel about the situation. A month ago they reported smelling gas. So did they fix it no they didn't. They knew there was a problem with the line. They were suppose to fix it last year and this year and they keep putting it off and putting it off. Where did all that money from getting a rate increase go. Bet it went to the top 5% of the company and they did not care about their consumers.

bet there are a lot more companies around United States of America that have pipe lines that need upgrading

  • R &S, particularly U.S. citizens: Who is in control of this country?

Per a recent study, 81% of Americans think the U.S. is headed in the "wrong direction."

    http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5gNpUh…

Many in the U.S. believe there is a lack of morals amongst our population. It is blamed on a variety of things, but many Christians blame it on a lack of God in the schools and in the government.

Nonbelievers are often pinpointed as the driving force behind the secularization of the schools and the government.

But, per the CIA Factbook's 2007 estimates, 78.5% of Americans are some type of Christian. And 18.6% of Americans do not identify with a religion (unaffiliated, unspecified, or none). We cannot assume that the whole 18.6% constitutes nonbelievers.

Therefore, per some Christians' logic, less than 18.6% of the population is driving the U. S. into the dumps.

How have such a small portion of the U.S. population managed to overpower the majority of the country? Is there something else going on here?R %26amp;S, particularly U.S. citizens: Who is in control of this country?
The reality is that a small portion of the population has made changes not always popular with the majority. I don't think most of us would argue that point. I don't think, as an example, that most Americans want cancer from polluted air and waterways. But it is happening too often with the support of the government and courts.

But the specific issue you mention is Christians vs. Atheists influence. Personally, I don't think it is either. I think that a way of life in America is passing. Whether for better or worse is the subject of another debate. For many who favor that way of life it is attributed as a moral decline.

As an example, when I was in high school, young ladies were required to wear dresses to school. Now they can wear shorts and other varieties of clothing. For those who believe that a dress standard is important this is an example of moral change. To the person who doesn't want to wear dresses, this is a sign of progress.

As for religion, America has always until modern times lived under Christian Influence. We can argue whether or not the government was formed in this way.

As a nation influenced by Christianity, certain values were present. You can see those values in the government. The Ten Commandments is one of these. As the nation grew in recent years and larger numbers of atheists, Hindus, Muslims, Buddhists, and others have become an influence on American Culture there has been a push to change traditional ways.

As an example, the Supreme Court has ruled that the Ten Commandments can not be displayed in courts. For Christians who have always valued such displays, this is seen as moral decline. For others it is viewed as freedom from Christian oppression.

As for the control issue, a small minority can make major changes. Need I remind this group that the liberals and conservatives are very concerned about the next Supreme Court Justice and control of the Supreme Court? That decision is rarely determined by the public interest.

The elections we suffer through now are financed by major corporations and individuals on BOTH sides. It is these organizations that determine who sits in leadership of our nation. Read John Grisham's latest book as he looks at this influence.

    Pastor John
Pharmeceutical companies, Blackwater, oil companies... etc...R %26amp;S, particularly U.S. citizens: Who is in control of this country?
That, sir, is an excellent point. Every poll that has ever been conducted, concerning this country’s religious affiliation, overwhelming demonstrates that most people do identify themselves with some sort of Christian faith, and yet Christians are the ones that harp on the most about our moral degradation. So it would seem to make sense that Christians should lay the blame squarely on their own shoulders. Unfortunately most Christians don't abide by their Jesus’ admonishment to: “ Not look at the speck in your brothers eye, without first removing the beam in your own”.

Of course many Christians will say that the polls only express those who “PROFESS” faith, but not TRUE believers. Still, this does not absolve Christians of their responsibility for the moral decline they claim is occurring with ever increasing rapidity. After all, Christianity has had the power of the government behind it, and has been the largest influence on the global culture, for the past 2000 years. So if Christianity cannot even convert enough “true believers” to change the world for the better it demonstrates that Christianity is ineffectual and a failure. Moreover, it underscores the fact that if there is a God, and Christianity is the religion he approves us, then he is also impotent, because he cannot inspire enough people to TRULY believe and become catalysts for change.

Many right wing Christians relish the fact that Communism failed, and cite it (erroneously I might add) as evidence of what happens when you exclude God from national culture and government. So why don’t they apply that same logic and also condemn their own religion as a failure, because it, being given 1900 more years to work than “Godless” Communism, has not vanquished poverty, eliminated disease, or made people any more moral. Christians refuse to look at themselves in the mirror. Christians refuse to take the proverbial beam out of their own eye. They would much rather put on the blindfold of self-righteousness.R %26amp;S, particularly U.S. citizens: Who is in control of this country?
God, Jesus' father, is king over the whole universe. God says that He decides who He will let the leaders be and what He will allow them to do. God's in control of this country. But He does sit back and let us use our free will for the time being. Sometimes that means letting bad happen: both the people that run the country into the ground, and the people that could do something about it but they choose to sit back and do nothing.

The only thing going on is laziness or cowardice.
People with the most money are in control.
Only a small group of people have all the power: the top jesuits and they work for Satan. God has allowed Satan to be the prince of this world for a while and that's why the world is the way it is right now.

Do you know what the golden rule is? The ones that have the gold make the rules. That's the jesuits. They have all the gold. Read the "protocols of the elders of sion" and you'll understand what I mean.

Why do you think all those gay-rights laws are passing in all governments around the world? It's not because the world accepts homosexuality; not even 10% of the population of the world is homosexual. The top jesuits are homosexuals, though. The Presidents of the countries of the world are puppets in their hands (protocols of the elders of sion).

To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever! Jesus is Lord.
I'd say the neo-cons and the ultra right wingers are. A lot of them only care about morality if it affects their pocketbooks.
America's arcane political structure allows special interests to control the government; the economy is controlled by a self-perpetuating cabal of "professional managers", who run nearly all major corporations.

Religion has very little to do with it, except to the extent that these elites use it to maintain their positions.
History has always been altered and even directed by small groups of committed individuals.. 18 % of the US population is no small group.

Not that I agree with the assessment...
If everybody stop patronizing businesses you'll see who's in control.
    The christians.
This is why Obama should be president. I believe he really could change the world for the better.
